Good Afternoon CLU Community,
We hope you’re all having a wonderful semester so far! We wanted to take a moment to invite you to be a part of The Gumby Writing Project which is now open for submissions!
The Gumby Writing Project is a community writing initiative dedicated to bringing people together through the power of storytelling. All are welcome to submit and we hope you will use this project as an opportunity to be creative in a non-academic context.
This year’s theme is “The Stories We Carry.” We invite you to submit a story whether it be a personal experience, a generational story, or a piece of media. We want to hear about what inspires you. What has shaped the way you move through the world? Participating in this project has the power to connect and heal us, serving as a poignant reminder of our shared human experience. We will be accepting all creative mediums including short stories, poetry, and visual art. We encourage you to respond to the prompt in whatever way you are most inspired to!
We know how easy it is to get caught up in work, academics, and life, but taking the time to write can be a moment of stillness. We hope you take this as a chance to reflect, create, and reconnect with yourself.
This is your opportunity to slow down and share something meaningful with our campus community.
The deadline for submission is March 15th, 2026. Learn more about how to submit here: https://sites.callutheran.edu/gumbywriting/
If you have questions or want to talk through an idea, we’d love to hear from you at rghattaura@callutheran.edu and gwhittak@callutheran.edu
We can’t wait to read your stories.
Warmly,
Rheea (Sophomore, Psychology) and Greg (Senior, Criminal Justice, USMC Veteran) Co-Editors of The Gumby Writing Project 2026
