Major: Environmental Science
Minor: Creative Writing
What made you choose your major?
I think the water-saving campaigns and calendar competitions in elementary school definitely had some influence on my choosing of this major. Since then I’ve always thought about how much water we used and the desire to be helpful in some way led me to choose a major that shows me how connected everything is, including water!
What are your future plans?
I would definitely recommend this major to future students. I think it’s a great interdisciplinary field that teaches you the science between all of earth’s systems and how they interact but also how people, culture, history, and literature all interact with the environment as well. Environmental science is perfect for those who can’t choose between science and humanities or have some love for both.
Are there any in or out-of-the-classroom experiences that have helped you identify your future path?
In the future, I plan on attending grad school either for studying and doing research in Ecology or studying Science Communication. Soon though I’d love to start out as a research assistant in a local agricultural or soil lab group.
