I chose my major because mathematics was something I have always been interested in and wanted to know more about. The major has allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and make connections with the mathematics I learned in high school.
The psychology program set me up for success in my career through a blend of academic rigor and practical experience. Minoring in sociology significantly aided me in my studies and career path by providing a deeper understanding of society and its impact on individuals.
Even if someone is not choosing a life of ministry as clergy, having the opportunity to study and learn about the different religions and the theologies behind them also helps us become better equipped to engage in meaningful conversations respectfully with those of various beliefs. It’s also useful knowledge to have for those entering fields that have direct contact with individuals and address their mental, physical, emotional or social needs.
