Ana Rodriguez ’25

I was a patient not long ago, and it allowed me to value my team of doctors much more and learn from them. As I became healthier, I began furthering my interests in medicine and patient care by volunteering at hospitals. I am incredibly thankful to now work at Los Robles Regional Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant where I am surrounded by a great team of professionals and focus on direct patient care.

Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Why did you choose your major?

As someone interested in pursuing a medical career, I found that a biochemistry and molecular biology major provides me with a well rounded knowledge of sciences needed to achieve my career goal.

Would you recommend it to a future student? Why?

I would highly recommend this major! A biochemistry and molecular biology major is super rewarding. Every class I’ve taken has left me feeling more knowledgeable and empowered. The wide range of subjects covered in biochemistry and molecular biology opens up so many career opportunities. Knowledge is power, and the more you know, the more doors can open for you!

What are your future plans?

I plan to take the MCAT this upcoming spring semester and hopefully apply to med schools shortly after! My dream career is to become an anesthesiologist

What is your current job position?

I am a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Los Robles Regional medical center and I love it so much because I’m able to focus on direct patient care. Care with a patient truly makes a difference and it is such a rewarding feeling being able to help those who need it. I work in the Progressive Care Unit so most of my patients tend to need a higher level of care.

Are there any particular experiences — in or out of the classroom — that have helped you identify that path?

I have a passion for medicine and patient care. As someone who was a patient not long ago, it allowed me to value my team of doctors that much more. I was able to learn from them as a patient and I began furthering my interest as I became healthier. I began by volunteering at hospitals and I am incredibly thankful to now work at Los Robles Regional medical center, where I am surrounded by a great team of professionals!
