Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Public Health Undergraduate

Nasharli Abeygunawardene ’25

I chose this major because I love both biology and chemistry, and biochemistry is the perfect middle ground between them. If you love chemistry and biology, I definitely recommend the major as it is a surefire way to develop your knowledge in all of the sciences and math.

Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Minor: Public Health

Would you recommend it to a future student? Why?

If you love chemistry and biology, I definitely recommend  biochemistry and molecular biology, as it is a surefire way to develop your knowledge in all of the sciences and math.
I would recommend raw public health minor to anyone. It gives you a more humane and psychological point of view when it comes to the healthcare system.

What are your future plans?

I hope to be a doctor one day.

Are there any particular experiences — in or out of the classroom — that have helped you identify that path?

I’ve wanted to be a doctor since I was little. Volunteering and interning at different hospitals definitely helped me gain insight as to how practicing medicine works and only reinforced my intentions.
