Major: Accounting
Why did you choose your major?
I chose accounting because it is the language of business. Coming from a business background where I worked in my family’s business since I was in middle school, I’ve always had a knack for business and entrepreneurship. I gravitated toward accounting because I enjoy creating and analyzing financial statements and preparing individual and corporate tax returns.
Would you recommend it to a future student? Why?
I would recommend accounting to a future student because you learn to understand business transactions and become the backbone of the business itself. There are also ample job opportunities and a lot of potential for career growth.
What are your future plans?
My future plans include earning a master’s degree in taxation from USC, becoming a CPA, and working for a Big 4 accounting firm.
Are there any particular experiences — in or out of the classroom — that have helped you identify that path?
Some practical experiences that helped me identify this path are my time at my family’s business and my time as an intern at an accounting firm preparing complex tax returns and creating financial statements for million-dollar corporations.
