I chose my business administration major because I have always been drawn to business and entrepreneurship. When I created a Poshmark account and started selling my clothes, I quickly became obsessed with sustainable fashion and seriously considered chasing my dream of having a brand of my own. It wasn’t until I got the Steven Dorfman
Scholarship at Cal Lutheran that I finally felt like it could become a reality. I’ve been lucky enough to receive validation and support from an entire team of faculty, expressing their strong faith in me and my career ambitions.

Right after graduating, I started working in venture capital, with impact funds that invest in underrepresented founders. The environment at Cal Lutheran gave me the confidence to pursue my interests in venture capital, with a particular focus on supporting the Latino community. The strong presence of the Hispanic community at Cal Lutheran reinforced my desire to make an impact by deploying capital into Latino-owned businesses.
I love business administration because there are so many routes you can take. I was able to learn so much about various aspects of business while still focusing on the marketing side of things. I’ve learned through this department that it is very important to understand all aspects of business, even if your emphasis is on something else. I believe this has made me a more well-rounded individual.

I picked this program because of the amazing opportunity to be in central London while not only studying but also getting an opportunity to work in a completely different society and country.

Many people work behind the scenes in the entertainment industry to help bring projects to life, and I can see myself being one of those individuals. I am drawn to the business side of it. I thrive when working with others, and I am very much a people person. I have developed excellent public speaking skills during my time here at Cal Lutheran, which I believe will be beneficial in an industry that requires collaboration.
The blend of communication and business courses centered around marketing communication and business administration allows you to strategically immerse yourself in each field. The leadership, management and technical skills I have also learned within both of my majors have prepared me for wherever I choose to go in the future.

I decided to major in business administration because I knew that it would be the most beneficial for me and the career I want for my future. School of Management events have made me realize that business is the correct path for me to pursue. I plan on obtaining my master’s degree in business administration and eventually going to work in a career in financial planning or advising. I would say French is a good pairing with my business major because it is the third most spoken language in the world of business.

I have found purpose at Cal Lutheran. I do not know where I will be in 5 or 10 years, but I feel that right now I am where I belong.
