Amy Duverge ’23

I worked at Media Services for about two years, where I developed event coordination skills, such as good communication and time management, to make sure that things were getting done in a timely and effective manner. In my current role, I communicate a lot across different departments and have a lot of things that need to get done in certain time frames, so those are essential skills to have. I also took a bunch of film classes that helped me learn all that I did!

Major: Film and Television with an emphasis in Production

What is your current position/career?

Media Management Coordinator at Disney Entertainment Television

How did Cal Lutheran and/or your film and television program set you up for success in this position/career?

I was a co-president of the Film/TV Club which I was able to put on my resume as a leadership role, worked at Media Services for about 2 years where I was given complete creative freedom and was able to develop event coordination skills, and took a bunch of film classes in general that helped me learn all that I did!

What skills or proficiencies did you acquire at Cal Lutheran, through your studies or other activities, that you now use in your current position/career?

While I was working at Cal Lutheran, I needed to have good communication and time management skills to make sure that things were getting done in a timely and effective manner. In my current role, I communicate a lot across different departments, and have a lot of things that need to get done in certain time frames so they are very important skills to learn!

In general, what were some of your favorite aspects of the Film program? Such as research, classes, professors, etc.

My favorite aspects of the program were the Professors! I learned a lot from Dr. Professor David Grannis, Dr. John Fitch III, and Professor Mahmoud Salimi. One of my favorite classes was Broadcast News Production with Professor Grannis, where we had to create a new show every week and go out on the field to record interviews.
