I would absolutely recommend biology, especially for students who are curious about how life operates at its most fundamental levels. If you’re detail-oriented, enjoy hands-on work, and want a career where you are constantly learning, it’s a great choice. My best advice is to find great professors who are passionate about what they teach, it makes science much more engaging!

I chose my business administration major because I have always been drawn to business and entrepreneurship. When I created a Poshmark account and started selling my clothes, I quickly became obsessed with sustainable fashion and seriously considered chasing my dream of having a brand of my own. It wasn’t until I got the Steven Dorfman
Scholarship at Cal Lutheran that I finally felt like it could become a reality. I’ve been lucky enough to receive validation and support from an entire team of faculty, expressing their strong faith in me and my career ambitions.
Growing up, I struggled with my health as a result of severe food allergies and a lack of culturally and language-proficient providers. Biochemistry provided me with the means to make sense of the molecular reactions governing the makeup of the body. To think that the allergic reactions I had growing up were chains of chemical reactions within my cells. Today I use the knowledge of my degree to help others with their understanding of the molecular mechanisms that make the world.
Cal Lutheran has a very distinct and developed criminal justice department that offers a variety of networking opportunities through clubs and required internships. The major also implements a structured curriculum that pushes and encourages students to be the very best they can be. The psychology department is built to provide you with foundational knowledge as well as routes to take based on your interests, some of them being biopsychology, child and family development, and law and criminal behavior.
The criminology & criminal justice program at Cal Lutheran incorporates an internship as part of graduation requirements, which pushes students to gain work experience and helps them stand out from the rest upon graduating. The political science program also has interesting travel seminars and experiential learning opportunities like Model United Nations and Urban Politics in Washington D.C.

I am so happy that I chose to be an English major because it has shown me how much I love and appreciate writing, on a deeper level than I had before. Taking the creative writing workshops has provided me with a great amount of feedback and structure that I now consider when I am writing anything.
I started as a business administration major but switched to mathematics in my second year. This combination has been beneficial, as the business courses provided essential management and finance skills, while my math major enhanced my analytical abilities. Together, they allow me to approach problems strategically and make informed decisions in my career.
I love business administration because there are so many routes you can take. I was able to learn so much about various aspects of business while still focusing on the marketing side of things. I’ve learned through this department that it is very important to understand all aspects of business, even if your emphasis is on something else. I believe this has made me a more well-rounded individual.

Multimedia is a major that teaches students a lot about the basics of technology and art. I’ve had fun doing things outside my graphic design emphasis such as video editing, character design, and web design. I’m not sure what I want to do with my degree, but I know that I have
a lot of options.

Major: Accounting Why did you choose your major? I chose accounting because it is the language of business. Coming from a business background where I worked in my family’s business since I was in middle school, I’ve always had a knack for business and entrepreneurship. I gravitated toward accounting because I enjoy creating and analyzing […]

The film and television program is very hands-on, and the equipment and spaces are up to date, which helps students get comfortable with the equipment quickly. The faculty’s connections to production studios and sports and news companies help provide many internship and job opportunities for students. The Theatre Arts curriculum encourages students to get involved in both sides of the theatre (tech or performing), really expanding their knowledge and allowing for growth and discovery of new passions. I have been passionate about theatre and performing for the majority of my life, but the theatre department at Cal Lutheran has confirmed those passions.

I chose my major because mathematics was something I have always been interested in and wanted to know more about. The major has allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and make connections with the mathematics I learned in high school.

I picked this program because of the amazing opportunity to be in central London while not only studying but also getting an opportunity to work in a completely different society and country.

I love how diverse the multimedia industry is, there are so many different opportunities, whether it’s graphic design, animation production, or beyond. After graduation, I will be focused on exploring a wide range of opportunities within the creative industry and work as a Production Assistant for Blur Studio. Ultimately, my goal is to make a meaningful impact through my work, whether it’s in graphic design or animation production.

English can be a great stepping stone for many potential careers in law, education, writing, publishing, and more. I would also advise most people who are studying within non-business-related fields to at least pick up a business minor to diversify themselves as a job applicant.

To say I lived and studied in Japan while working on my minor in Asian studies I feel strengthens the potency of that minor compared to many classmates also studying in this field which could really benefit me should I choose to utilize this experience in a future career goal.
Connecting my love of being in tune with myself, as well as understanding how to share love with others, I realized helping people through their sensuality struggles, emotionally, mentally, and physically is my calling in life.
Growing up in the disadvantaged and marginalized community of Nyeland Acres in Ventura County, I never saw women, let alone women of color, represented in the legal field. The lack of representation in my community left a profound impact on me and made me aware of the systemic barriers and biases that hinder minorities from pursuing their dreams. With a deep commitment to social justice and a desire to utilize the law as a tool for positive change, political science provides me with the necessary tools and perspectives to pursue a career dedicated to advancing justice and equality.

Many people work behind the scenes in the entertainment industry to help bring projects to life, and I can see myself being one of those individuals. I am drawn to the business side of it. I thrive when working with others, and I am very much a people person. I have developed excellent public speaking skills during my time here at Cal Lutheran, which I believe will be beneficial in an industry that requires collaboration.
I chose this major because I love both biology and chemistry, and biochemistry is the perfect middle ground between them. If you love chemistry and biology, I definitely recommend the major as it is a surefire way to develop your knowledge in all of the sciences and math.
I have always been passionate about approaching English with a social justice lens. In high school, I was fascinated with learning about untold stories of minorities while I invested myself in literature that connected with my experiences as a first-generation Latina woman. I found novels like I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika Sanchez and so many others that pushed me toward majors such as English and Ethnic Studies.

I chose my major because I always felt it was my strongest subject growing up and I enjoyed it the most. I would only recommend going into mathematics if someone enjoys the subject already. I interned at a financial planning company in Hawaii for the past two summers, which helped me decide what I wanted to do and get a foot in the door pretty early in my college career.
If a student wants to learn about more than just the cell and its structures, and truly understand the big picture, this major is the one for them. I have been able to learn more about the chemical processes that dictate our lives, and how important they are. Through my classroom experiences and research experience with Dr. Michael Abdelsayed, including his belief in me as a potential graduate student, I have developed a passion for going further into the life sciences.
The most life changing part of my experience here at California Lutheran University has been the leadership roles that I have been able to take on. I have the ability to be a part of so many different parts of our campus community. I am learning and growing as a leader, future professional, and person every day because of it. My future career will require me to be able to juggle many different disciplines and departments and my time at Cal Lutheran is preparing me for that.

I have always had a love for art but wanted to pursue it differently. I wanted something broader so I could learn on a spectrum. With multimedia, it’s great to understand areas you may not have considered or known of before. I’ve grown an appreciation for graphic design and animation but have tried many more outlets.
